FORMA x This is Water invite you to
A community sailing immersion to Catalina Island, California
August 13-16th, 2026
Off the coast of Los Angeles, Catalina Island offers a whole new world of adventure.
20 people, 4 boats, 4 days.
Learning from the ocean, exploring the land, eating well, and spending time with a beautiful community of friends and friends-of-friends.
Reclaiming the wildness inside, through the wilderness outside.
What we’re doing together…
This sail is intentionally off-grid, removing technology and alcohol to reconnect deeply with the living world around us.
Each day is shaped by the sea and what we bring to it together:
NATURE & EARTH STEWARDSHIP
Learning to read the land and sea, and how to move through both with more care.
DAILY PRACTICE
Guided movement and meditation each morning.
SAILING FUNDAMENTALS
Optional hands-on time with the boats and the water, guided by experienced captains.
ADVENTURE
Paddleboarding, snorkeling, diving, hiking, dance.
COLLECTIVE PARTICIPATION
This is not a run-of-the-mill luxury or tourist sail. We will all share and support - from leading a workshop to helping prep food. This trip will be informed by the unique signature we each bring.
Why Catalina Island?
26 miles off the coast of Los Angeles, the isolation of the island has created something rare, with over 60 endemic species found nowhere else on Earth.
Earning the nickname the Galápagos of North America, 88% of the island is protected, keeping it wild in a way that almost nowhere else on the California coast still is.

Chef. Culinary Storyteller. Food Alchemist.
Born in Rabat and raised in Casablanca, Yasmina Ksikes grew up in a household rich in spices, music, and the sacred rituals of Moroccan cooking passed down by her mother and grandmothers. That lineage became the foundation of everything she makes.
After moving to the U.S. in her early 20s, Yasmina worked across hospitality in Philadelphia, Washington D.C., Miami, and Chicago before landing in Los Angeles, where she has spent years feeding a vibrant, diverse community. Her cooking is rooted in the belief that food is a thread between humans, places, and memory.
Lalla Mina, her culinary practice, is a living tribute to her grandmothers' legacy. Whether catering a celebration in the desert, teaching a Moroccan cooking class in New York, or cooking on the California coast, Yasmina's intention is the same: to awaken the senses and offer nourishment that lingers long after the meal is done.
